How Does God Respond to Loneliness?

This has been one strange season after another! Just when you think you’ve wrapped your mind around the ebb and flow of a pandemic- civil unrest ensues and you’re right back at square one. Relationships that were dependable have now become unpredictable and we are walking on eggshells trying to avoid issues that may cost us our relationships if our opinions differ.  Needless to say this has been a very, very, very (x100) lonely season.

As believers, it can be difficult for us to admit that we are human. Oftentimes we come into agreement with guilt and shame that prevent us from admitting when we’ve grown weak, and if we don’t have wise counsel we turn inwardly and put burdens on ourselves to be subhuman.  Our emotions are not turn-offs to the LORD.  Actually, He’s quite baffled that we do not turn to him first. 1 Peter 5:7 gives us direct instructions to Cast all of our everything on Him BECAUSE HE CARES! This means everything plus the kitchen sink! When we spend our time avoiding the presence of God and transparency with the Lord loneliness seeps in. Before we know it, we feel completely deserted questioning God on his whereabouts.

So How Does God Feel About Me when I’m Lonely?

Psalms 46:1- He wants to be a safe space for us when we are feeling alone.

John 14:16-18- He will come to our aid, comfort us, and lead us to the truth that we are NEVER abandoned.

Matthew 28:20- He is with us ALWAYS. He guarantees us His companionship.

As a singleton during this season I have had to RUN to God for reassurance and trust that His timing is perfect. It’s so easy to move prematurely, and I know He understands and leads me to His truth: EVERYTHING is working out for me in love and His divine timing (Romans 8:28).  Keep your head up and repeat these verses to yourself or pray them out loud and receive the comfort they bring.  You are not alone, quite the contrary,  you are your Father’s  deeply loved child.
