A Place of Rest
"When the arm grows weary of hanging on and the will of you thin and gaunt, know that this is when He desires to carry us in His arms."
I don’t really remember my dad ever picking me up; in fact, I don't really have many memories of my father and I because he was absent after the divorce. I learned just how important a father-daughter relationship was by watching my goddaughter and her godfather interact. Ava LOVES her dada and does her best never to be far from his voice. When Ava gets tired of walking she looks for her dada. When she is hungry, hurting, lonely, lost, confused, or inquisitive she looks for her dada. It does not matter if her mother or myself are in the same room, the only option she sees is her dada.
It is through observing this relationship that I’ve come to know who God is and how he wants to function in my life.
What God Desires
We are conditioned to seek God in times of trouble and very seldom seek His will in daily living. Because we approach life on our own terms we become susceptible to anxiety, stress, and worry. All of these emotions are avoidable if we sit in His seat of rest. God desires to be our “dada”. Just like Ava knows she will never lack as long as she is close to her father, we too have that same opportunity. Sure, we can call out to Him in trouble, but how awesome would it be to call upon Him always. How awesome would it be to call upon Him for EVERYTHING. Finally, how awesome would it be to call Him for no reason at all but to hear His voice and know you are near. When we consistently communicate with Him we soon learn that He has everything under control. This is the place of rest we’ve been promised; The Secret Place of the Most High.
If I know nothing else, I know it is His joy to take care of all that concerns us. Will you consider calling Him today?
